Woomera will be reopened if needed ruddock at 9am tonight and is expected to return to normal operation early next day.

The closure of the river is expected to be lifted later today.

At 4.10pm we received notification of the closure of the Woomera at the Woomera Dam, with water coming out of the dam in small bursts and flooding at the Kaimariki Lakes and the Kaimariki Reservoirs.

Emergency Services (ESOT) are working around the clock, but have been dealing with the water situation for the past three days.

ESOT continue to monitor the situation, and we'll be monitoring more information as this situation changes.

ESOT says it expects the river levels to return to normal by today.

Afghan spy boss killed in blast at Kabul airport

A suspected drug courier was killed by police after he attempted to run over a group of police officers as they tried to arrest him in Kabul's airport on Tuesday.

Murtaza Hussain, 33, was killed by a police patrol who surrounded the car he had rented to carry out a hit on a rival gang.

The vehicle had been being used to smuggle narcotics before it was hit, police said.

Hussain was arrested a few hours after he was shot at the entrance to the airport.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the death, although the whereabouts of Hussain were unknown as his killing had yet to be confirmed.

It is not clear why the police shot the courier, who was wearing a headscarf.

Al Jazeera's Jim Muir, reporting from Islamabad, said Hussain had previously fought for the Taliban but had also been a target of Pakistan's intelligence agency, the Inter-Services Intelligence.

We are still trying to get all the information out about the death - he was a suspected Taliban terrorist and the first person killed in a crackdown by the Pakistani authorities - Jim Muir, reporting from Islamabad

The group wanted to kill Mullah Omar and the Afghan president.

Mullah Omar had been overthrown by Pakistan's army in 2001, while Taliban militants had seized power in Afghanistan in early 2001.

"We have received indications that the police are targeting suspects from the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), which has links to the Taliban," state television news outlet Geo News said.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid also said that more bodies had been discovered in the body cavity of a suspect in the blast.

He said some 50 more bodies had been uncovered.

Police said in a statement that "some suspects" had been killed in an ongoing operation against Taliban members outside the airport.

"There were several police outposts in the area during a search operation," it said, adding that an inquiry into the incident was on.

The bomb killed nine police officers at the main entrance of the airport on Tuesday morning (06:30 GMT), state TV news outlet Geo News said.

It added that one was seriously wounded.

Police seek teen rape clues

One suspect remains at large, authorities said.

One suspect remains at large, authorities said.

Police searched several areas of the town of Woodland, northwest of Oklahoma City, including one home in which an 18-year-old was shot in the neck and another home in which an 18-year-old was shot in the arm. Authorities also said there were multiple firearms and explosives found at a home, along with about 40 other items they believe came from the same home.

Investigators also found ammunition and a cellphone used in an attack near Woodland and one device left at the scene.

No one was found on the street.

A manhunt for four other teens in the Woodland area turned violent after authorities said they responded to reports of gunshots and a woman, who police said admitted killing her child, had been reported missing.

A woman found herself surrounded by five young men Wednesday afternoon in Woodland.

The woman came forward after the police chief said she shot and killed a child at a house in the town just days before.

The woman said she shot the child after the girl ran away and a fight started after her mother was home in the 4200 block of West S. Grandview Street, according to police.

The woman said one or two of the four suspects took her to the backyard before the fifth man took the gun from the woman, police said. The woman was walking with the fifth suspect when she was shot, police said.

The girl was taken to OU Medical Center, where she is listed in stable condition, police said.

"It appears the suspect in the child's slaying was at large and that a child is deceased," the head of the Woodland police department, Michael Deutsch, said in a news release.

The police chief said the suspect in that murder case was a teen from Woodland, not Oklahoma City, but he would not discuss the case because it is an ongoing investigation.

Two other girls had been reported missing Thursday night, although their families were not told by police they had been reported missing.

"The incident involved one young woman being shot in the neck," Chief Deutsch said.

Woodland police said the woman's mother told police that after the girl ran away and then an argument broke out between her and her mother, the mother shot the girl after the child "ran loose" and the child became combative

British actor rik mayall died from sudden heart failure widow Sarah-Lou Williams said.

The 41-year-old was found in his room in his West Kensington home on Thursday afternoon but later died from his heart failure at the Wandsworth hospital, her husband Anthony said.

The cause of death has not yet been confirmed. The inquest, in which Mr Williams also died, will begin later this week.

His father-in-law, Robert Naylor, told the Daily Telegraph: "He is survived by his wife Sarah-Lou, their one-year-old son David and two daughters, ages two and one."

The couple also has a two-year-old son and a nine-year-old daughter. Mr Williams was not a member of any clubs or associations, and did not smoke or drink alcohol.

"It is true that the cause of death is very likely sudden heart failure, and the family have expressed their sadness at how quickly he passed," his father said.

"It is obvious he had been struggling with health problems since the age of 37, and he had just celebrated his one-year marriage.

"He was not active in any clubs or community groups and he had spent a lot of time away from his family. The family felt that a medical exam indicated he would have passed without any problems."

Mr Williams was a fixture in Britain's most popular nightclub scene and had worked as a bouncer at the Eton Grove, his father said.

"He was an entertainer on stage and television," he added. "He used to bring in a small amount of cash to go to parties so people like to know he is still around."

Mr Williams had an "amazingly large" following and it would have been impossible for someone of his size to walk away from that, his father said.

Sarah-Lou Williams said Mr Williams worked in TV with comedy producer and writer Bill Pickles.

She told Sky News: "As a mother, as a friend, as a great comedian, he was a good person. He had been my dad since he was 10. He had always been good to me and he made sure every day when my little girl went to bed, that I would have a smile on my face for him."

Friends said Mr Williams, of Westbourne Road, Soho, had been taking a "very active part" in the West Kensington scene for more than 20 years. "He was very much part of the West Kensington scene since the early days," said his friend John Gifford, 38, who worked at the club in 2005 when Mr Williams performed there. "He was always busy, always trying to make people laugh and he was a great singer.

Vic police union hails 10m funding boost, but says not everyone will be given the money

Cockburn said the increase was well deserved, given the huge cost of dealing with an ageing population with a shrinking workforce.

But he said people could not expect to live as long as the current generation, who are expected to retire in the next 25 years.

"I think it's absolutely amazing but my wife and I felt very sorry for the elderly when we were a little boy and a bit older because we didn't have the funding," Cockburn said.

"If we thought the cost of the pensions to our children was going to be so much we'd be willing to do the same for them.

"But the reality is that the population is ageing and it's really hard for people to keep up, and the pensions are going to be part of that equation."

Greens MP Adam Bandt said people would need to change their attitudes to pensions and support.

"To be paying more towards the old, to pay more towards the young and the disabled, to see your pension cut as some sort of insult, is really hard.

"I don't see the logic at all, but the reality of things is people will change their lifestyle when they live long.

"Credulity is important but you need to look at what's going on at the moment in order to change those attitudes in the future."

The Greens will soon hold their first round of voting in the federal election after they won 769 of the 1,100 seats at the last election.

The Coalition have won just 10 seats in the state - while Labor are on 34, the Liberal party one.

"We have come out of the election with an increase of 6 per cent for the Commonwealth, that was a historic year in terms of economic growth and in terms of employment and you are seeing a steady increase in people in the workforce," Opposition employment spokesman Richard Wynne said.

"We have an ageing population, a workforce that is over-employed and many of our state electorates are seeing a lack of growth in employment.

"This is a challenging time for this Parliament and I think there are some great ideas coming forward to grow jobs, give people a better voice in our economy, but what can't be overlooked is this fact that Australia is increasingly becoming an ageing nation."

In Western Australia, a Government-backed research organisation report said young adults were the least likely of any age group to be paid at retirement and that this was putting pressure on older people.

Council considers provincial cities pullout of all funding if council approves new funding formula

May 31, 2013

The municipal council in Winnipeg has voted to ask the provincial government to help it build a reserve for its aging city.

In a 4-0 vote on Monday, the municipal government voted to ask Finance Minister Joe Ceci and Transportation Minister Rob Ford to help create an "Economic Action Plan."

The province and cities in Manitoba have until June 30 to submit their responses, but the request can still be denied if they don't act fast.

The city council is expected to vote on the proposed plan in August when a decision will be made whether to request an additional $15.1-million from the provincial government.

If no agreement is reached before June 30, the city will get nothing, but instead council will have until October to determine if they will seek more funding.

City staff are hoping to get a better handle on how the funds will be spent. City manager Terry Glidden was in favour of funding the program, but said council's decision shows it may have to start small — the program could cost the city about $80,000.

The City of Winnipeg already contributes about $30 million to the provincial government annually.

"We'll be looking at whether there are better ways to bring that money in," Glidden told CBC News on Monday.

Council has until June 30 to submit a report on its plan to the provincial government.

Lower south east sa under total fire ban

Hinds said there was "very little risk" from a second such large blaze, due to temperatures below freezing on Wednesday morning.

She said police could not be immediately confirmed as a suspect and police could not confirm the cause of the fire.

"We have been very fortunate we have got some people that are very lucky.

"There is just a lack of resources, a lack of the ability and a lack of a lot of people."

She said police had made multiple requests over the past 30 to 35 days for people to shelter in place in case of fire.

Hinds said there was "no reason" why there would be any more fires.

"We are going to continue to move things forward," she said.

SANDUERS 'ROCKED'

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull called the news about the fire "very concerning" and called for extra resources to help ensure that the area was protected.

"It's obviously devastating news for people who live down here and for communities that are close to the area," Mr Turnbull said.

"We all want to make sure our communities are resilient as well as safe."

The NSW Police Federation said they were aware of the fire.

"It was just one of the first in which there was this degree of fire in so far as fire safety is concerned," its national officers chief commissioner, Mark Stewart, told Sky News.

"A number of officers have been dispatched and, with any fire, if one of those officers is caught it is only going to exacerbate those fires."

The ACT Chief Commissioner, Bob McInerney, was "rocked", although he said the fires did not cause any concerns to his state.

The Victorian Emergency Management Minister, Simon Corbell, said two people, a firefighter and their six-month-old child were unaccounted for and another firefighter was at a property.

"It looks like no-one was hurt. We are just in complete shock," he said.

Nations are now turning to bushfires to tackle heatwaves across Australia.

The latest fire in western New South Wales, which happened on the Gold Coast, was extinguished on Saturday evening.

In the northern-most state of Queensland, two men's home in the city of Redfern burnt to the ground on Friday, forcing authorities to close it to firefighting crews.

On the west coast of Australia there was no severe heat warning Saturday morning for the New South Wales interior.

Pilot pleads not guilty to chopper charges Copyright by WAVY - All rights reserved Video

WALTER MCDONALD - The pilot of a chopper flown for money has been sentenced to eight months in jail and four years' probation on charges of flying a commercial airship without a permit, a day after being arrested and charged with flying his aircraft with a prohibited aircraft.

Norman Thomas Jones was sentenced by Chief Judge James C. Rader at the Virginia State Penitentiary Thursday in lieu of $15,000 bail. He will be required to perform three hours of community service, the judge said.

On December 19th, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Virginia State Police made the felony charges against Jones, 33, known in the state as "Norman Jones," public.

"On February 2nd, 2014, Jones was notified by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives or ATF that he and the others operating <that> aircraft with a permit under subsection (a) of Article 18, § 18.2-17.2 (D), had violated federal criminal section 484(a), Article 481, § 481.1 of Title 12 of the Virginia Code, and had violated federal criminal section 18.2-16, § 18.2-16," said Assistant U.S. Attorney John Stoltz with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Office of Public Affairs.

According to the charges, the plane Jones and his co-pilot operated on was a private, military-grade commercial chopper.

Jones allegedly received $150,000 in payment for operating the aircraft from American Express and other companies while the aircraft was registered to the aircraft's pilot. After Jones agreed to pay for the insurance of the commercial aircraft, the pilot had to pay a separate fee to American Express in addition to payment for the aircraft.

Jones was arrested Friday morning as part of a massive federal, state and local crackdown on illicit airship operations. The operation involved 14 agents who seized more than 40 helicopters, several aircraft and a small jet for their investigation.

One of the helicopter drivers, Anthony Loyd, told reporters that he had already paid a $20,000 insurance premium but then was refused service from American Express.

In a second raid Sunday, ATF agents and U.S. Marshals conducted a search of a mansion in Norfolk where they seized a plane, three choppers, numerous boats, several helicopters and a small jet.

Jones' criminal charges stem from the December 17th incident, which he denied.

A search warrant was issued in connection with the raid of Loyd's home for more evidence on Wednesday, and an FBI agent with the bureau's Joint Terroris

Rapira to return to warriors. For that, no wonder he came back to his village after the invasion. After that, in the summer he returned home again and went to the mountain region of Yggdrasil.

"The world is still young. There are many possibilities that do not exist yet."

After returning he visited the castle of the king. He heard about the battle of the hero, who had his sword drawn at the river Tana. He heard about a battle that ended with the defeat of Yggdrasil, who was called The Dragon that Fell from the sky. As a swordswoman she was called the King. The queen was called the Hero, who carried the Sword that fell to a lake on a raft. This was the battle between Yggdrasil and the hero.

'I can only believe such an event would happen. I heard that the hero went on an adventure to the southern continent and ended up in Yggdrasil. I know that the world is still young, but what have I been doing in a land like this, looking towards others and doing things that I'm not good at.'

It's better that I stay in the mountain region. That was the most important thing for him to get rid of, because it was not good for him.

That's why he returned to the castle of the king, who saw him return to his village.

"In the first place, I am not going there. I won't do that."

In this world things are still a bit different than the past. Things are far more peaceful than they were before. The people around him had changed, but they had grown. His family and friends had grown too. Even his mother had left her village because of the trouble at Yggdrasil. But at the same time he did not want to go there. He could only take his time, and it would be a mistake to go there at the present time.

'I will take some time after I pass on to my home… If it's only me now, I should be able to do something as well.'

It's possible to go and see that region once again. As long as his father would return, there was not much to do. The king looked around for his son and was wondering what to do after hearing that story. The man was looking around in puzzlement and wondered what to do.

The first thing he thought of was to go back home as he was going, since he was at peace. He did not know if his son was alright, but if it's him he should go home. That way he could get back on his feet, and for that to happen there should b

Liberal party one nation preferences possible sinodinos says Michael Geoghegan, a spokesman for the party's federal candidate in Montreal-Forde Uqbal. But Geoghegan said it's not clear whether the proposed change will happen, given the party needs to win Quebec's 23 seats to become a serious threat to Trudeau's Liberal majority.

"For me the choice is between an absolute minority or between a coalition or with the Liberal Party," Geoghegan said Monday. "In this respect that makes sense because if you want to be the majority, there's no doubt in my mind you have to win the national vote."

Polls show most Quebec voters back the change.

Geoghegan's party and the Parti Québécois would also like to expand and increase the number of Quebec-language school buses in the province from 10 to 12. The Parti Québécois believes all the public funding is being spent on English-language schools. Geoghegan said he believes the current Quebec school board is in effect "a propaganda machine" which has been "playing games" with the province's schools. "It's playing with our kids" he said. "It's putting up posters about this issue in schools in Quebec City," Geoghegan said, referring to an old school board posters in Montreal city hall. The Liberal Party has rejected the proposal. It says Quebec is not a united country.

Shareholder activist tilburn approaches 500 agms as global crop prices tank.

"Our numbers don't include corn production, but the numbers that we do include show this: It's not a good thing, and if we get back to pre-recession levels and continue like this, it'll be for real," he said. "If we keep going down, it'll be really bad."

The U.S. agribusinesses are pushing for tougher regulations, while activists and farmers oppose them.

They say tighter rules will make it harder to compete on price with foreign competition. "We've all heard that term 'price floor', and it is true that farmers pay market prices for corn. But we don't know what that means," Tilburn said.

Related: Farmers pay big premium

Farmers pay a minimum of 3% of the yield they sow, plus a 20% discount, according to the USDA. With that number, an average farmer can earn as much as about $7 a gallon.

U.S. farmers make up the vast majority of the corn and soybean cornfields across the country, but a growing number of farms have gone out of business. Many are small, so when they aren't profitable, they take a hit, especially the younger ones that grow corn and soybeans for biofuels.

When the price of a gallon of ethanol dropped to less than $1 last month, the average American was paying about $8 for a gallon of the fuel. That's not cheap, and while farmers tend to spend money on their corn and soybeans, other agricultural commodities like oil and cotton -- which have historically paid a premium -- pay even less.

The cost to U.S. farmers has fallen about 15% since then, but farm subsidies are still in place, even though ethanol is being more widely deployed.

Related: No corn, soy or milk in cornfields

With higher prices, other feed, and the prospect of fewer marketable products for farmers to sell, the number of U.S. corn and soybean farms has fallen even further.

At present, more than 1 million acres of U.S. corn and soybean farms are in use, with the current use rate being 1.4 million acres per year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. If current trends continue, the number of U.S. agribusinesses -- those that operate those fields, and their products -- will soon total more than 1 million acres, said Thomas Beit, an associate professor in the University of Kentucky Center for Research on International Agriculture. The Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service, which oversees most U.S. agricultural research, says it expects to see corn an

Police have released CCTV images of suspects caught breaking into customers' cars following the crackdown on taxi crime.

Belfast City's Taxi Commission said that last month its officers spotted an unlicensed driver pulling over a car of a man and a woman in west Belfast, before the man and woman's vehicle were then targeted by three black Audi A8s.

The men inside the vehicle were then ordered out of the car and a struggle ensued, with one of them then pulling out a knife.

When police arrived at the scene they saw the Audi driver, a 50-year-old male, lying on the floor of the car.

The police officer arrested him and an officer with the Belfast Taxi Commission. CCTV images captured the man's actions and showed he admitted they were the reason the BMW had been destroyed at a nearby garage.

The man has been released pending further enquiries.

One of the Audi drivers was in stable but serious condition and remains in intensive care. Police have also launched an investigation into the two other passengers in the car who did not witness the attack.

Chief Superintendent Martin Ferguson said: "The drivers involved in this incident will be charged with breach of the Road Traffic Act after they were arrested by the Irish authorities and arrested this afternoon.

"The driver of the Audi was questioned and he was found to be in breach of the Road Traffic Act for which he will be charged with breaching bail conditions set to prevent him going on trial."

Police released CCTV images of the four people caught breaking into a car on March 20 while on foot in a bid to halt the attacks on the drivers and victims of taxi crime across Belfast.

They also targeted taxi operators who the

A former orange developer who spent more than 30 years in the City of Belfast has been charged with three counts of fraud.

John Ward was accused of the fraud at the heart of a scheme in which he ran a scheme to steal $7.5million worth of money from real estate developers.

Ward was also found guilty of an additional charge of misappropriating more than $1.5million, which included two cars, his £500,000 house, a swimming pool and land at Fort Tryon.

The judge was told: "It has to be borne in mind that it appears to be a very small part of the scheme."

Ward was given credit of 20 years in jail, as the maximum in Northern Ireland. His conviction was upheld by an appellate court which saw the convictions in December.

He was already on a three year good behaviour bond on the remaining three counts, with the date set for his release hearing set for 18 June.

Who to declare south east asia; india polio free; health, sanitation and clean water, and the importance of having more money.

The meeting was led by the National Commission for South East Asian Integration.

They were seeking a discussion paper on what the Indian government can do to support these initiatives and they said they needed a document to give to the Indian embassies in Southeast Asia, South East Asia, Southeast Asia and Central Asia.

They said the Indian government must follow the path set by Malaysia and Singapore and should use the opportunity they have to support the initiative.

The commission said as the world is still reeling from the recent events in the world, "we must remember that a future for India will not be established by the past. It is here to stay".

"It is only through the future we will know what it is," the meeting said.

Alp leadership row a bloody mess

The allegations against the party's leadership have been widely discussed in the South African political debate.

The ANC's decision in 2013 to make the ANC Central Committee a new member-based body was widely denounced by senior members as being a form of state-sponsored "coercive democracy", after which it was replaced by a parliamentary system of leadership.

The controversy began after Mandela refused to sit on the National Assembly after being elected as the first African leader since Nelson Mandela in 1980.

Tensions within the party, led by the ANC's most outspoken and powerful figure, Joseph Kony, spiked after he was freed from his prison in the Southern African country.

He had escaped a five-year long trial for war crimes committed in Uganda in the 1980s.

'Blame the man'

A political rival of Mandela, the late Senegalese President Charles de Galtier, said later that he had told top ANC members that they should resign if they did not stand by Mandela because the former ANC leader was responsible for the killing of at least 8,000 children.

The ANC's decision to rejoin the National Assembly under a new leadership was opposed by its own rank and file who saw it as a form of government.

The leader of the local branch of the party, Gwede Mantashe, said earlier that the leadership re-joining was a matter of "plans for our survival".

There was no immediate response from the leader of the ANC's ruling coalition, the Alliance of Democratic Change (ADC), on whether it would oppose the re-assembly.

The ANC's main opposition group, the African National Congress, has criticised ANC leaders for their reaction to the re-assembly as "a bloody mess".

Al-Thabti, a leading ANC activist who has served as a close adviser to president Jacob Zuma and is a close confidant of President Zuma, urged members to join the National Assembly, saying the ANC would need to be in "good" hands.

He said that the "good party, the best party" could do "more than this".
